Creating a connection profile

This procedure describes how to create a Database connection profile in the Control-M Configuration Manager, which enables you to define a Database job in Control-M.

To create a connection profile:

  1. From Control-M Configuration Manager, select Control-M for Databases on the host that you want to manage, and right-click Connection Profile Management.

    The Control-M for Database -Connection Profile Management dialog box appears.

  2. Click Add.

    The Add Connection Profile Choose target database dialog box appears.

  3. Do the following:
    1. In the Connection Profile Name field, type the name of the connection profile that you want to add.
    2. From the Database Type drop-down list, select one of the following database types:
    3. From the Database Version drop-down list, select the version of the database.

    Control-M for Databases SSIS feature only supports MSSQL 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2019.

  4. Click Next.

    The Add Connection Profile-Database Connection Parameters dialog box appears.

    The database connection profile type that appears depends on what you selected in the Add Connection Profile-Initial Step dialog box.

  5. For each field, type the required value, as described in Control-M for Databases connection profile parameters.

    To perform any related SSIS task for any MSSQL account versions 2005, 2008, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2019, you must to do the following:

  6. Click Next.

    The Advanced Connection Profile Configuration dialog box appears.

  7. For each field, type the required value, as described in Advanced Connection Profile configuration parameters.
  8. Click Next.

    If you selected the MSSQL database type, the Add Connection Profile-SSIS Package Password Definition dialog box appears; otherwise, go to step 11.

  9. To enable access to an SSIS package, add a password to the package by doing the following:
    1. Click Add.

      The Add Package dialog box appears.

    2. Enter the required details, click OK.
    3. To enable you to skip validation of all SSIS packages when testing a connection profile in the CCM, click the Skip SSIS Package validation checkbox.
    4. Click Next.

    The Add Connection Profile- Summary dialog box appears.

  10. Review the connection profile details, and click Test.

    If the test completed successfully, the connection profile is validated and you can now define a Database job, as described in Defining a Stored Procedure job. If the test failed, review the error message and test it again.

  11. Click Finish.

    The connection profile is added to the Control-M for Database -Connection Profile Management dialog box.
